Terms of Service
Last Updated: July 6, 2025
Welcome to Renée Space. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Renée Space app, website, and services (collectively, the "Service"). Please read them carefully. By using Renée Space, you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
About Renée Space
Renée Space is designed as an emotional companion — a place where you can talk, vent, and reflect with the help of a language model. It’s a tool for emotional support and wellness, not for clinical care. While it may feel therapeutic at times, Renée is not a therapist, does not offer mental health treatment, and is not meant to replace professional counseling, diagnosis, or crisis support. If you're experiencing a mental health emergency, you should immediately contact emergency services or a mental health professional in your area.
Creating and Managing Your Account
To access Renée Space, you’ll need to sign in using your Google account. It’s your responsibility to keep your login credentials safe and to ensure that your account is used appropriately. If you suspect unauthorized access to your account, please contact us immediately at hello@reneespace.com. You may delete your account at any time by reaching out to the same address.
How You’re Allowed to Use the Service
We ask that you use Renée Space respectfully and responsibly. This means not using it for any unlawful, harmful, harassing, or misleading activities. You also agree not to tamper with, copy, or reverse-engineer any part of our technology. Renée Space is meant to be a safe, private space, we want to keep it that way for everyone.
Your Content and Our Use of It
When you use Renée, you’re often sharing personal thoughts, feelings, or questions. You retain ownership of what you write or input. However, by using the Service, you give us permission to store, process, and analyze your content, solely to provide the Service to you, maintain its quality, and improve our product. Occasionally, we may review anonymized or aggregated data for research or development purposes, but we do not sell your personal information or use your conversations to target ads.
Privacy and Data Handling
We take privacy seriously. When you sign in with Google, we collect your basic account information, such as your name and email. We also collect conversation data, device type, browser information, general location (e.g., country or region), and how you use the app — like how long you spend in sessions or which features you interact with. We use this data to provide a better experience and to understand how the app is used.
We also use Google Analytics to track general usage trends. This tool helps us improve Renée Space, but it does not give us access to personally identifying details beyond what you’ve agreed to share. You can opt out of Google Analytics by using this browser add-on.
We do not sell your data, and we only share information with trusted third-party tools required to operate the Service (e.g., cloud hosting, analytics, or language model providers). More details are available in our Privacy Policy.
For Users in the EU, UK, or California
If you're located in the European Union, United Kingdom, or the state of California, you have special rights under GDPR and CPRA. These include the right to access, correct, or delete your data, as well as the right to object to or withdraw consent to certain types of processing. If you’d like to exercise any of these rights, just reach out to us at hello@reneespace.com. We will handle your request as required by law.
Emergency Use and Human Monitoring
Renée is not monitored in real time and cannot detect emergencies or medical concerns. If you are experiencing suicidal thoughts, severe distress, or believe you are a danger to yourself or others, please seek immediate help from emergency services, a local crisis center, or a mental health professional. You can also call or text 988 in the U.S. or Canada, or contact Samaritans in the UK at 116 123.
No Warranties
Renée Space is provided “as is.” While we do our best to keep the app running smoothly and reliably, we can’t guarantee uninterrupted access or that everything will always work perfectly. We also make no promises about the accuracy or helpfulness of responses generated by the app, and using the Service is at your own discretion and risk.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Renée Space and its creators are not liable for any harm, emotional distress, or damages arising from your use or inability to use the Service. This includes direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, even if we’ve been advised that something could go wrong.
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold Renée Space, its affiliates, officers, agents, employees, and partners harmless for and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages (actual and consequential), losses and expenses (including attorneys’ fees) arising from or in any way related to any third party claims relating to (a) your use of the Services (including any actions taken by a third party using your account), and (b) your violation of these Terms. In the event of such a claim, suit, or action (“Claim”), if you have an account, we will attempt to provide notice of the Claim to the contact information we have for your account (provided that failure to deliver such notice shall not eliminate or reduce your indemnification obligations hereunder).
Stop using Renée Space
You may stop using Renée Space at any time. Similarly, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, misuse the Service, or if we decide to discontinue the app. In the event of shutdown, we will delete all personally identifiable data within 30 days unless required otherwise by law.
Updates to These Terms
We may update these Terms occasionally to reflect product changes, legal updates, or feedback from our users. When we do, we’ll revise the date at the top of this page and notify you if the changes are significant. Continuing to use the Service after updates means you accept the new version.
Miscellaneous
You will be responsible for paying withholding, filing, and reporting all taxes, duties, and other governmental assessments associated with your activity in connection with the Services, provided that the Renée Space may, in its sole discretion, do any of the foregoing on your behalf or for itself as it sees fit. The failure of either you or us to exercise, in any way, any right herein shall not be deemed a waiver of any further rights hereunder. If any provision of this Agreement is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated, to the minimum extent necessary, so that these Terms shall otherwise remain in full force and effect and enforceable. You and Renée Space agree that these Terms are the complete and exclusive statement of the mutual understanding between you and Renée Space, and that it supersedes and cancels all previous written and oral agreements, communications and other understandings relating to the subject matter of these Terms, and that all modifications to these Terms must be in a writing signed by both parties (except as otherwise provided herein). No agency, partnership, joint venture, or employment is created as a result of these Terms and you do not have any authority of any kind to bind Renée Space in any respect whatsoever.
