Privacy Policy

How we collect, use, and protect your information when you use Renée Space. Last updated August 9, 2026.

Who We Are

Renée Space is operated by 1000330291 Ontario Inc., carrying on business as Renée Space ("we," "us," or "our"), a corporation incorporated under the Ontario Business Corporations Act. Our registered office is at 133 Richmond St W Ste 207, Toronto, ON, M5H 2L3, Canada.

Our Privacy Officer can be reached at hello@reneespace.com for any privacy-related questions or requests.

Who This Policy Applies To

This policy applies to all users of the Renée Space website and app. You must be at least 18 years old to use Renée Space. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this age requirement.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you sign in using Google, we receive your name, email address, and a unique identifier associated with your Google account. This is used to create and maintain your account securely.

Onboarding Information

During onboarding, we ask for your preferred name, pronouns, gender, and age range. This helps Renée respond in a way that feels relevant to you. Providing this information is optional.

Conversation Data

When you chat with Renée, the messages you send and receive are stored securely in your account. This is what lets you return to previous conversations and gives Renée continuity across sessions. Unauthenticated conversations (before you sign in) are held in memory only and are not persisted unless you sign in during that session.

AI-Generated Memory Summaries

To give Renée memory across separate conversations, we periodically generate a short summary of your recent chat history using an AI model. These summaries are stored in a dedicated memory system (ChromaDB) and contain inferred themes from your conversations — not verbatim transcripts. They are used solely to make Renée's responses more relevant and continuous across sessions.

Behavioral Patterns

Renée Space includes a feature that analyzes your conversation history to identify recurring emotional themes and behavioral patterns — for example, recurring sources of stress or how you tend to process difficult emotions. These patterns are generated automatically by an AI model and stored in your account. You can view them in the app, opt out of their generation, or delete them without deleting your account. See Your Rights and Choices below.

Usage and Analytics Data

We collect information about how you use the app: session length, features used, device type, browser type, and general location (country or region — not your precise location). We use Firebase Analytics and PostHog for this purpose. Analytics data is only collected with your consent.

Payment Information

If you subscribe to Renée Space Pro, your payment is processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your card number or banking details — Stripe handles all payment data directly. We receive billing confirmation, subscription status, and transaction history from Stripe to manage your account access.

Communications

If you contact us by email, or if we send you transactional or product emails, those communications may be stored for customer support and legal compliance purposes.

How We Use Your Information

  • Providing the Service: Authenticating your login, displaying your conversation history, generating Renée's responses, and maintaining continuity through AI-generated memory summaries.
  • Personalization: Using your onboarding information and behavioral patterns to tailor Renée's tone and responses to your context.
  • Analytics and product improvement: Understanding in aggregate how the app is used, identifying bugs, and prioritizing improvements.
  • AI training and model improvement: As described below, your conversation data may be used to train and improve AI models, subject to your opt-out right.
  • Billing and account management: Processing payments, managing subscription status, and sending billing-related communications.
  • Safety: Detecting potential misuse and surfacing crisis resources when appropriate.
  • Legal compliance: Fulfilling our obligations under applicable privacy and consumer protection laws.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your conversations to target advertisements.

AI Training and Model Improvement

We believe in being transparent about how your data may be used to improve AI. This section explains our current and planned practices.

What we may use your data for

Your conversation data — including messages, AI-generated memory summaries, and behavioral patterns — may be used to:

  • Fine-tune or train AI models that power Renée Space.
  • Share with third-party AI providers who may use data to improve their own models, where their terms of service permit this.
  • Analyze in aggregate and anonymized form to improve Renée's prompts, tone, and overall behavior.

When this applies

AI training use applies only to data collected after we have notified you of this policy. Before any training run that includes your data, we will send you an email giving you at least 30 days to opt out. Data collected before that notification is not used for training.

Your opt-out right

You can opt out of having your data used for AI training at any time by emailing hello@reneespace.com with the subject line "Opt out of AI training." We will process your request within 30 days and remove you from all future training runs.

Automated Profiling and Pattern Recognition

Renée Space's behavioral pattern feature uses automated analysis of your conversation history to infer recurring emotional themes and patterns. This is a form of automated profiling — an AI model draws inferences about your emotional behavior without a human reviewing each result.

We use these patterns only to personalize your in-app experience. We do not use them to make decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you, and we do not share them with third parties.

You have the right to:

  • View your patterns in the app.
  • Opt out of pattern generation in Settings, so no new patterns are generated from future conversations.
  • Delete all existing patterns without deleting your account, via Settings.

The in-app opt-out and pattern-delete controls are in development. Until they are available, contact us at hello@reneespace.com to exercise either right.

Third-Party Services

We work with the following third-party services to operate Renée Space. Each is contractually required to protect your data in accordance with applicable law. All providers are currently based in the United States.

  • Google LLC — Infrastructure, analytics, and marketing services. Data shared: account information, conversation data, and usage data.
  • Stripe, Inc. — Payment processing. Data shared: email address and subscription status.
  • PostHog, Inc. — Product analytics. Data shared: usage events (with consent).
  • OpenRouter Inc. — AI model services. Data shared: conversation messages.
  • Anthropic PBC — AI model services. Data shared: conversation messages.
  • ChromaDB — AI memory services. Data shared: conversation summaries.
  • Intuit Inc. (Mailchimp) — Email communications. Data shared: name and email address.

This list may be updated as we add or change providers. Significant changes will be reflected in an updated version of this policy.

Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Service and, with your consent, to collect analytics data.

  • Necessary: Required for authentication and session management. Always active.
  • Analytics (Firebase Analytics, PostHog): Used to understand how the app is used. Active only with your consent.
  • Marketing (Google Ads / GTM): Used to measure advertising effectiveness. Active only with your consent.

You can manage your cookie preferences at any time through the cookie settings in the app. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing that occurred before withdrawal.

Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your data — including your conversation history, AI-generated memory summaries, and behavioral patterns — within 30 days, unless retention is required by law.

If your subscription lapses or is cancelled, your conversation history remains stored in your account but is not accessible until your subscription is reactivated. Cancellation does not trigger deletion. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time, regardless of subscription status.

Anonymized or aggregated data that cannot identify you may be retained indefinitely for research and product improvement.

Your Rights and Choices

Regardless of where you live, you have the following rights:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction: Ask us to correct inaccurate information.
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your account and all associated data, available in Settings or by contacting us.
  • Opt out of AI training: Email hello@reneespace.com to be excluded from all training data.
  • Opt out of pattern generation: Disable behavioral pattern analysis in Settings (in development — contact us until available).
  • Delete your patterns: Remove all behavioral patterns without deleting your account (in development — contact us until available).
  • Withdraw analytics consent: Update your cookie preferences in the app at any time.

Canadian Users (PIPEDA)

As a Canadian company, we are governed by the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). You have the right to access your personal information and to challenge our compliance with PIPEDA by contacting our Privacy Officer at hello@reneespace.com. • The right to know what personal information we collect, use, disclose, and sell.
  • The right to delete your personal information.
  • The right to correct inaccurate personal information.
  • The right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. We do not sell your personal information.

  • The right not to be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.

To exercise these rights, contact us at hello@reneespace.com.

EU and UK Users (GDPR / UK GDPR)

We do not actively market to users in the European Union or United Kingdom. Contact us at hello@reneespace.com to exercise these rights.

Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes. To formally submit a Do Not Sell or Share request under CCPA/CPRA, contact us at hello@reneespace.com.

International Data Transfers

Renée Space is incorporated and operated in Ontario, Canada. Many of the third-party services we use — including Google Firebase, Stripe, PostHog, OpenRouter, and Anthropic — are based in the United States. By using Renée Space, your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States, which has different privacy laws than Canada and other countries. We take steps to ensure that transfers to these providers are covered by appropriate contractual protections.

Data Security

Your data is stored on Google Cloud and Firebase infrastructure, which includes encryption at rest and in transit. Access to personal data is limited to team members who need it to operate or improve the Service, and to the third-party providers listed above.

No system is completely immune to risk. If a data breach occurs that affects your rights or freedoms, we will notify you and any relevant regulatory authority as required by applicable law.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to our practices or applicable law. When we make significant changes — including any new data uses, new sub-processors, or material changes to your rights — we will notify you by email at least 30 days before the change takes effect. The date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version.

Continuing to use Renée Space after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
